Sandvik Coromant introduces CoroPak 21.2 products and solutions
- October 1, 2021
Sandvik Coromant has announced CoroPak 21.2, its latest new products and systems release.
The new cutting tools and solutions cover 2164 items, ranging from new products and upgrades to existing solutions, to some all-new concepts. CoroPak 21.2 includes turning, milling, drilling and solid round tools as well as expanded digital machining software and new tooling systems.
In general turning, the company has introduced CoroCut QI, a tool optimized for internal grooves and face grooves that Sandvik Coromant says will enhance reliability when it comes to machining grooves on smaller diameters. The range of inserts in new steel turning grades GC4425 and GC4415 has been further extended to include inserts for CoroTurn 300 and CoroCut QD.
For milling, the new CoroMill MH20 tool with a large application area enhances secure and vibration-free machining thanks to light-cutting action in combination with a robust shank design.
“The MH20 is a new concept for us in our high-feed milling family, with a new double-corner insert design,” David Andrews, general manager, Sandvik Coromant Canada told Shop Metalworking Technology. Andrews also singled out the Corout QI announcement. “This is a major upgrade—it’s a brand new system of internal grooving solutions.”
An extended assortment for CoroDrill DS20 is now available. The indexable insert drill can reach hole depths from 4 up to 7 × DC with no need for pilot drilling. New drill body and insert designs boost reliable and predictable drilling with high penetration rates.
The new CoroDrill 462 with -XM geometry and 862 with -GM geometry micro drills are available in solid carbide and polycrystalline diamond (PCD), for precision machining in industries dealing with small parts.
For digital machining, Sandvik Coromant’s CoroPlus Tool Path NC code generating software has been expanded to include programming support for the new OptiThreading method that enables machining of threads with efficient chip breaking.
Sandvik also singled out two recent additions to the CoroPlus machining solutions family: CoroPlus Connected and Silent Tools Plus. The new machining solutions support automated manufacturing with data-driven and automated decision making.
New tooling systems include blade carriers for Y-axis parting, while machine adapted clamping units, formerly offered as engineered solutions, have now been made available as standard products.
All 2164 new articles are available for order as of October 1, Andrews says.
