Platino fiber laser by Prima Power is a highly flexible and reliable laser cutting machine available for sheet size 1,500 x 3,000 mm and with laser power ranging from 2,000 W up to 3,000 W and suitable for a wide range of applications.

The unique architecture of Platino fiber allows full accessibility to the working area from three sides. This open structure makes it easy to integrate the system, at any time, with the wide range of modular automation solutions by Prima Power, from simple pallet changer to the most complete system with automatic handling and storage of the material.

The machine offers fabricators several benefits such as reliability because of a unique machine design using a synthetic granite frame that offers the best thermal       stability and vibration damping, claims the company, and because of SIPS (Safe Impact Protection System) for the protection of the machine head against collision with fixtures or workpieces. The accessible fiber laser cutting machine not only offers total accessibility from three sides, it offers manual loading/unloading of sheets even without using an automatic pallet changer.

Speed and accuracy are independent from the workpiece weight. The strokes of the linear axes are: X=3,050 mm, Y=1,600 mm, Z=150 mm. The linear axes have a combined speed of 140 m/min and feature acceleration of 1.2 g for a single axis. Accuracy is Pa and Ps = 0.03 mm (full stroke) according to VDI/DGQ 3441 standards.

The flexible machine features automatic nozzle centering, a non-contacting nozzle distance control, quick lens change with a cartridge system for easy set-up and an optional rotary axis for cutting tubes or pipes.

The machine comes in 2 kW or 3 kW and is equipped with an Integrated Group owned CNC P30L and drives for seamless and user-friendly operation of the system 

 The high energy efficiency of the laser, the simplicity of the beam path, and the absence of any laser gas make the operation and maintenance costs very low. As well, no foundation is needed, it requires only a small footprint and is quick and easy to install, claims Prima Power.

Options include: sheet positioning detection system through sensor; an automatic pallet changer; a compact sheet metal loader; a compact server: modular and flexible automatic material handling system; connection to Prima Power automation modules; a rotary axis (a CNC lathe) for tubes and profiles processing; and software packages for advanced programming (nesting and “common edge”).

Trim flap discs boost stock removal, service life

Polifan PSF Z-TRIM flap discs feature composite backing that can be trimmed to extend service life and reduce time consuming disc changes on steel and stainless steel (INOX) applications.


Pferd has introduced the Polifan PSF Z-TRIM flap disc. These versatile new universal flap discs have a lightweight composite backing that can be trimmed to extend service life, enhance surface finish and reduce time consuming disc changes. The composite backer and flap arrangement help reduce vibration and noise levels. Produced with a higher density of zirconia coated material (Zirconia alumina Z) than standard PSF flap discs, these discs provide long service life, an improved surface finish, and a soft, cushioned, contamination-free grinding effect in applications ranging from surface grinding, weld grinding, blending, chamfering, and deburring on steel and stainless steel (INOX).

Their premium zirconia self-sharpening abrasive grain produces high stock removal rates throughout the life of the disc, along with a long service life. In addition, the high-density flap arrangement, with an increased amount of coated material vs. conventional flap arrangement, facilitates reduced vibration and noise levels, along with flexible grinding action and superior results on irregular shapes. 

The Polifan PSF Z-TRIM trimmable flap discs provide superior stock removal, service life and surface finish

The PSF Z-TRIM flap discs perform on all power outputs, though high-powered angle grinders will achieve optimal results. They are available in 4 ½ in. and 5 in. diameter with either a 7/8 in. plain arbor hole, or a 5/8-11 thread for threaded spindles, in grit sizes of 40, 60, and 80. The 5/8-11 thread quick-change version is made with a zinc hub..
