Capacity utilization rate increases for Canadian manufacturing

The capacity utilization rate for the manufacturing sector rose from 76.1% in December to 78.4% in January, Statistics Canada records show.

Looking specifically at fabricated metal manufacturers, their capacity utilization stood at 75.4% in January, a 0.7% improvement over the previous month and a 6.6% improvement compared to January of 2022.

Primary metal manufacturing posted a 73.8% capacity utilization rate in January, a 1.6% increase over the previous month and a 3.4% improvement over January of 2022.
