The lifting of COVID-19 requirements at the border and on planes and trains announced by the federal government is “extremely welcome news” for Canadian business, according to Perrin Beatty, president and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
“We are at a very different stage of the pandemic, and the continued use of outdated travel regulations prolonged the struggle for businesses across the country who have lost billions due to the pandemic,” Beatty said.
He added that while the changes are late in coming that the Chamber is pleased to see the government bring Canada back into line with the international community on removing the restrictions.
“As we continue to move towards recovery, it will be crucial that we are guided by evidence-based policy and we not re-implement ineffective mandates that will cause further challenges for Canadians and their businesses,” Beatty said.
