At 2,200 kg. GM's ISV is light enough to be hauled under a helicopterClick image to enlargeGM Defense LLC, a subsidiary of General Motors, has delivered the U.S. Army its first Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV), part of a $214.3 million contract awarded in June.

The ISV is a light all-terrain vehicle that will provide rapid ground mobility to a nine-soldier infantry squad and its gear on and off the battlefield.

What’s amazing is that it’s based off the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 midsize truck architecture and uses 90 per cent proven commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) parts, including Chevrolet Performance race components.

At 2,200 kg (5,000-lb.), it’s light enough to be hauled under a Blackhawk helicopter and small enough to fit inside a Chinook helicopter.
