Boston Dynamics' dancing robots, seen in this screenshot from the attached video.Click image to enlargeOne of the biggest challenges with robot development is ensuring smooth movement wthout requiring the robot to be anchored securely. Well, it looks like Boston Dynamics is well on it's way to figuring this out.

The Waltham, Mass.-based robotics engineering firm gave the engineering and manufacturing world a New Year's surprise when it dropped this video of a cohort of dancing robots. No, these are not robot arms moving in unison—these are bipedal and otherwise mobile robots doing their best Justin Timberlake impression.

It's a pretty incredible sight, and also a little worrying—if these robots are dancing now, how long will it take for them to learn Kung Fu?
