ZOLLER Inc. will display a range of its presetting, inspection and tool management solutions at the Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show, including its new powerShrink and toolBalancer machines and popular line of toolholders.
Developed to provide a fast, reliable and safe heat-shrinking process, the powerShrink presets and shrinks high-speed steel and hard metal tools in under 60 seconds. This is possible thanks to the innovative induction coil that features two windings that can be controlled separately to shorten heating times, which conserves wear on tools and reduces machine downtime.
Compared to prior models, the newly released powerShrink uses up to 30% less electricity – a direct cost savings that also demonstrates ZOLLER’s commitment to sustainability, the company says.
With safety in mind, an LED light-guided cooling bell system offers clear guidance to the operator throughout shrinking and cooling.
Machines in this series can heat-shrink tools with lengths up to 460 millimeters (powerShrink 400) or 600 millimeters (powerShrink 600).
Also new to the market is the ZOLLER toolBalancer that balances toolholders, complete tools and grinding wheels with a precision of less than 0.4 gram millimeters.
Constructed from environmentally friendly, vibration-dampened UHPC material, machines in this series sit on a half-ton base for stability and precision during measuring and balancing.
The high-precision spindle and balancing adapter can mount almost any toolholder. The spindle rotates the tool at 400 to 1,200 revolutions per minute, depending on the tool’s weight. The result is optimally balanced tools that produce better quality parts, achieve longer spindle running times and benefit from extended tool life.
Machines in this series can balance tools weighing up to 30 kilograms with diameters up to 480 millimeters and lengths up to 550 millimeters (toolBalancer 550) or 750 millimeters (toolBalancer 750).
To ensure safety, machines in the powerShrink and toolBalancer series are certified according to the Canadian Standards Association.
ZOLLER’s extensive portfolio recently expanded to include a comprehensive array of over 2,500 high-performance toolholders, many of which can be purchased at myzoller.com.
Consistently rated above DIN requirements, the toolholders’ hard-turned clamping shoulders and drive slots guarantee durability and precision during machining. Toolholders can also be equipped with an »idChip« that tracks data such as location, number of shrinking cycles, tool life and more.
