When: May 15, 2013, 3-8 pm
Where: McMaster University, McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute (MMRI), Hamilton, ON, John Hodgins Engineering Building
An Industry Open House hosted by the MMRI and NSERC CANRIMT (Canadian Network for Research and Innovation in Machining Technology), will showcase advances in virtual machining on machines in MMRI’s labs. The event, designed for manufacturers, is intended to highlight innovative machining strategies for maximizing productivity, optimizing quality and reducing costs.
Technology demonstrations will include:
Stability Lobe Theory: Increase metal removal rate by 3x using CUTPRO
Cutting Force Prediction: Establish machine requirements, select tooling, design fixturing, tune process parameters
Tool Selection Strategy: Increase productivity and quality while reducing cost
Tool Developments: High performance tool coatings
Tool Path Optimization: Reduce cycle time using MACHPRO
Machine Tool Accuracy: Five axis machine geometric calibration using PolySAMBA
Novel Machine Designs: Hexapod machine demonstration
Advanced Part Scanning: Fast integrated GD&T
