SMS Machine Tools, one of Canada’s oldest and largest machine distributors, has appointed a new president.
Craig Collison is taking over from former president, Brian Smith, who will remain at SMS in an advisory role.
Collison has been with SMS since the year 2000 in a variety of roles, most recently as general manager. He is the third-generation owner of the company that has been in business since 1959.
SMS has also moved into a new facility at 300 Hanlan Road in Woodbridge. SMS had been at their old facility in Rexdale since the early 1980s but needed to find a new home when the owners of the building decided to sell.
SMS sells a wide variety of products to the metal cutting industry, most notably Hyundai-Wia Machine Tools and Hanwha Swiss-Type Lathes. With their recent move and transition to a new president, SMS is looking to further expand their product offerings and become an even larger player in the machinery supply industry.
