Manufacturers in Western Canada witnessed the benefits of turn-mill machining at seminars held recently in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.
Organized by Thomas Skinner & Son Ltd./Haas Factory Outlet, application specialists from Haas, Sandvik Coromant and Thomas Skinner provided attendees with a first-hand live demonstration of turning and milling on Haas Y axis turning centres.
“We wanted to design a demonstration that would emphasize heavy turning and problematic full form threading while showcasing Y axis milling,” says Bill Rankin, applications team for Thomas Skinner. “Doing all processes in one setup produces a more accurate part, reduces setup time, shrinks in-process work, manpower, floor space and capital investment.”
