Fixtureworks, a supplier of workholding and fixturing technologies has bolstered its One-Touch Fastener lineup to include a new retractable type of clamping/knob locking fastener.

The retractable pin feature allows the fastener to safely slide off from the base without interference, making them ideal for slide and door applications. The new fastener, identified as QCWEA, will not release until the knob is turned to the “OFF” position, allowing the balls to retract into the shank and allowing the shank to be raised out of the way of the base plate for no interference all without the use of tools. These fasteners provide positive locking in quick change applications when there is frequent insertion and removal of a fixture.

QCWEA fasteners are designed to pair with a ball-locking receptacle that is mounted to a base. Turning the knob engages and disengages the ball-lock mechanism in the shaft to lock and unlock from the receptacle. The ball-locking system provides a clamping force up to 11 lb. and a holding force to 33 lb. with open position height of up to 70 mm. The knob, body, balls and spring are all made from stainless steel.

These knob-locking pins also have a sensor detection capability that allows the locking condition to be confirmed when used in combination with position sensor receptacles (available separately).
