Mittmann has introduced its new generation of WTO smart driven tools.
The new solutions offer intelligent condition monitoring for high process reliability in automated manufacturing cells, Mittmann says. The systems deliver monitoring of speed, temperature, vibrations and run time, as well as display of operating time and remaining time until the next service interval. All data is transferred live during operation, and users can access the complete data history of each tool holder.
WTO has also introduced the new broaching unit (pictured above) for economic manufacturing of oriented keyways and splines.
New features include extended or reduced stroke length of up to 52 mm or 26 mm working stroke. The same insert holder is used for ID and OD broaching, by rotating 180 degrees. Maximum working stroke depth is 26/32/52 mm, maximum stroke frequency is 1500/1000/800 min⁻¹, maximum groove width is 12 mm, and maximum feed per stroke is 0.15 mm.
The broaching unit is designed to be used in a CNC lathe with milling function like a live tool for drilling/milling operation.
