Mazak’s new Ez Series of machines were among the more popular displays at the company’s recent DISCOVER 2023 held recently in Florence, Ky.
Canadian manufacturers were among the over 2,000 visitors to attend what is being billed as the largest privately held manufacturing event in North America.
Mazak believes its lineup of Ez vertical, turning and Multi-Tasking machining centres can offer solutions for every manufacturer. In the Job Shop Solutions Action Area at DISCOVER 2023, the VC-Ez Series Vertical Machining Centres on display included the new MAZATROL SmoothEz5 CNC with 5-axis functionality. Additional VC-Ez machines and the 2-axis QTE-100M SG also showed their capabilities.
The VC-EZ 16X vertical machining centre (pictured above) is among the newest additions to the EZ Series and includes the MAZATROL Smooth Ez5 CNC. The new CNC enables the Kentucky-built VC-Ez 16X to process small complex parts via 3+2 or full 5-axis machining.
The VC-Ez 16x provides axis travels of 27.75” in X and 16.14” in Y and Z (705 mm x 410 m x 410 mm), with a rapid traverse rate of 1,654 ipm (42,011.6 mm/m) on all three axes. The machine accommodates workpieces up to 18.11” in diameter (460 mm) and 19.09” (485 mm) tall, and parts weighing up to 507 lbs (230 kg). A 40-taper 12,000 rpm 25hp (18.5 kW) spindle and 30-tool magazine are standard equipment.
