CWB launches new program

CWB Certification has launched a new pilot project to support one-person welding shops and small organizations.

Dubbed the Sole Proprietor service model, the project will improve access to access certification with reduced application fees and allow payments to be made through monthly instalments to eliminate cost-related barriers for smaller clients.

The current model serves all companies regardless of the size and number of welders involved. However, sole proprietors may lack the steady cash flow for initial payments, while still needing the same business knowledge.

CWB says the move was its way of letting the industry know the certification process is not overly complex, challenging, or costly to complete. CWB says the benefits to these businesses are enormous.

Welding shops that sign on to the sole proprietor model will enjoy a full CWB Certification support system, including a Designated Contact Centre team member along with support from a Certification Services Representative.

Designed with the same stringent welding standards in mind, users of the program will have to meet the relevant certification standard’s required criteria. The initiative is applicable to new clients only. Services for existing one-person welding operations will see no change.
