The CWB Group has cancelled its CanWeld 2020 conference, co-located with Fabtech Canada on June 17 – 18, 2020, in Toronto.
CanWeld 2019 was a powerful experience for delegates, bringing together people from an extensive range of industry contributors such as educators, decision makers, influencers, suppliers and consultants. It was great opportunity to discuss issues around current trends and advances, welding and joining, health and safety, and much more. This year would have been no different for the CWB Group, and preparations were underway for months to host another successful conference.
CWB Group cancelled the event in response to the COVID-19 lockdown currently in place across Canada and in many other nations.
In a press release, CWB Group said CanWeld has been well-received by the industry for many years now, but the health and safety of our partners, employees, participants and events staff is of paramount importance.
“Although we worked diligently to identify alternative options for our participants, the volatility of the current situation has prevented us from doing so, and we are now working towards hosting an alternate event in the Spring of 2021,” CWB Group said in the release.
Below is an official statement from Bill Gwynne, vice-president of industry solutions:
It is with great disappointment that I announce the postponement of CanWeld 2020 being held at Fabtech Canada in Toronto. As our reputed partners at Fabtech Canada announced last week, we looked for ways to host this event in 2020 but felt that we couldn’t do justice to our partners, exhibitors and participants, but we are committed to a bigger, better and safer event next year.
The CWB Group would like to show its appreciation to everyone that is working tirelessly to keep our communities safe and healthy during a stressful and challenging time. At a time where physical distance separates us all, the strength and kindness of our communities is more evident than ever before.”
