Brand neutral manufacturing resource platform

A new online manufacturing resource platform called “A Faster Horse” has launched.

The platform promises to provide users in the manufacturing industry free and brand-neutral direct access to experts, knowledge, insights and solutions from a wide range of qualified partners. “Partners provide groups through which subscribers can access specialized content, advice and solutions designed to optimize operational efficiency, reduce waste and envision the future,” the platform’s launchers said in a press release announcing the launch.
Offering industry services, manufacturing optimization experts, Industry 4.0 solutions and just-in-time information, A Faster Horse aims to help users improve their operations and save money. The platform has already unveiled its community features, with informational content and a partner network. The community will be developed into a service aggregating platform, including a marketplace through which subscribers can market their products and services. A capacity sharing feature will enable short term rentals of production capability during what otherwise would be down time. Messaging and chat functions will also be available to foster discussion about the optimization of manufacturing processes.
One problem with some existing informational sites, the launchers claim, is that anonymous postings make it impossible for subscribers to qualify the expert status of individuals who dispense advice and insights. On A Faster Horse, users and selected partners are identified by their real names, with verified experience listed to substantiate their participation. Communication can be open or private depending on the subject.
Future plans include integration with IBM Watson “to become the first open AI-enhanced platform specialized for the manufacturing industry.” The AI-service will be accessible for members of A Faster Horse and will not require any development from platform members.
“Industry 4.0 and AI is sometimes over-mystified, but we will make it more accessible for all industry players,” says project manager Johan Wallquist. Co-creation sessions are planned where early adopting members will be able to influence the development of the service.
Founded by the Seco Consultancy Services division of Seco Tools, the new platform says that it is an independent venture and “welcomes other brands and industry players to participate as partners and sponsors to drive the industry forward.”
More information, including application for early access, is available here.
