Hyundai WIA’s new L800A Big Bore Heavy Duty CNC Turning Centre features a 12.5 in. (317.5 mm) thru hole capacity suitable for machining large cylindrical parts used in the oil and gas industry.
A dual chuck design (one on each end of the spindle ) offers superior support of the workpiece, especially on long shafts or pipe. Standard capacities include: a 41.3 in. (1049 mm) swing over the bed; a 32.3 in. (820 mm) swing over the carriage; a max. turning diameter of 36.2 in. (919 mm); a maximum turning length of 65 in. (1651 mm) and a 12.58 in. (320 mm) spindle bar capacity.
The 45° slant bed with hardened and ground box ways has been designed using finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure powerful cutting and agility and is composed of meehanite cast iron to minimize deformation when performing heavy-duty cuts. At a weight of nearly 4,000 lb., the rigid bed is designed to absorb vibration for stable machining. To eliminate thermal growth during machining, all axes are driven by high precision double-nut ballscrews. The double pretension design provides outstanding positioning and repeatability with virtually no thermal growth. All ballscrews are connected directly to the servo drive motors without gears or belts, eliminating backlash. Axes travel: 19.7 in. (500.38 mm) in X, 66 in. (1676 mm), in Z and B.
The Big Bore spindle bore of 12.58 in. (320 mm) in diameter optimizes cutting efficiency when cutting oil pipeline or other types of pipe. Spindle motor is 60 hp with spindle torque rated at 7,045 Nm.
P4 class roller bearings and angular bearings secure excellent stability when heavy duty cutting. Ground bearing assembly parts in the spindle and headstock maintain consistent high accuracy. In order to avoid the release of pre-pressure of the spindle bearing due to high speed accel/decel, heavy duty cutting and movement of the chuck cylinder and tension of the belt pulley, a double locking system separates the spindle bearing from the pulley. The three-step gearbox offers powerful low end torque for heavy cuts as well as high speed rotation for improved surface finish. The machine is configured with an 700 rpm spindle for taking deep cuts. The main spindle delivers minimal noise and vibration even at the heaviest cutting, guaranteeing extremely stable machining and minimizing thermal transmission to the main spindle.
The machine features an easy to use, programmable built-in tail stock to maintain superior accuracy and tailstock control. Taper: MT6. Quill diameter: 160 mm. Quill travel: 132 mm. Tail stock travel: 1,580 mm.
It is equipped with a 12-tool turret. Tool size: OD, 32 x 32 mm, and ID, 80 mm. Indexing time: 0.4 sec per step.
Hyundai WIA is ideal for the precise cutting of oil field pipe and other applications that demand handling long, cylindrical pipe and tubing in sometimes a remarkably harsh, high production environment.
