Iscar’s new adjustable-pocket face mills, the F90LN-AFR CA11 tools, are designed to carry PCD or PCBN tipped inserts for use on cast iron, hardened steel, aluminum or any other non-metallic materials.
They are balanced for high rotational speeds and feature a special radially flowing cooling system, which carries the chips out of the machining zone
The tools are used mainly in the automotive and aerospace industries,
applications that require high speed machining, so they’re dynamically balanced for high rpm (G2.5 grade). A set of radially positioned screws enable balancing the cutters for these high rotational speeds.
The cutter body is made from high strength aluminum and specially coated for high surface hardness and reduced adherence of the removed material.
The lightweight cutters enable better acceleration/deceleration features and reduce spindle loading, which increases its life.
The cutter is equipped with a frontal cover that causes the coolant supply to flow radially, carrying the chips out of the machining zone. This prevents re-cutting of the chip, reducing built-up edge phenomenon and thus providing excellent surface finish (minimum recommended coolant pressure should be 20 bar).
The new tools are designed with insert pockets that feature axial, bi-directional adjustment rear screws. This mechanism enables an adjustment of insert front end axial position within 0.002 mm.
The F90LN-AFR CA11 tools can also be used for regular Tangmill LN 1106 inserts, for applications which require precise frontal edge adjustment.
The adjustable tools provide excellent surface finish and prolong insert life.
