Capacity utilization rate dips for Canadian manufacturing

The capacity utilization rate (not seasonally adjusted) for the total manufacturing sector decreased from 80.2% in August to 78.9% in September, on lower production.

The capacity utilization rate of primary metal manufacturing increased 1.7 percentage points in September, however fabricated metal manufacturing capacity utilization dipped -1.3 percentage points to 77.3%. Year-over-year, capacity utilization for fabricated metal manufacturing is down 0.3 percentage points.
