Althoff was a toolmaker by trade, but he parlayed this skill into an extremely successful sales career in the machine tools industry.

He retired from Ferro Technique in 2015 after a 35-year career, throughout which Althoff was a consummate professional, well respected by all his customers, suppliers and competitors that he worked with throughout his career.

To sum up how everyone felt about Fritz is this statement from a customer: "Fritz was certainly the most classy of all machine tool salesmen I've ever come across.”
