The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) has received a US$40,000 (CDN$49,797) scholarship grant cheque from the Gene Haas Foundation.

The cheque was presented at the end of October by representatives of Haas Factory Outlet – Edmonton, a division of Thomas Skinner Inc. a major distributor of industrial metalworking, and machine shop supplies and equipment for Western Canada.

The Gene Haas Foundation was established by the founder of Haas Automation Inc. in 1999, to support local community organizations, soon expanding its mandate to include support for manufacturing training programs in North America and beyond. So far in 2021, the foundation has awarded a total of CDN$225,000 in grants to polytechnic institutions across Western Canada.
