Total Canadian manufacturing sales increased 1.2% in April, according to an advance estimate provided by Statistics Canada.
The largest increase was in the transportation equipment subsector.
This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 64.7%. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months has been 94.7%.
As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the April reference month, this early indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than its regular monthly release.
