Cy Laser has introduced a side-loaded compact fiber laser plate cutting system designed to integrate easily with material handling automation.

The CY2D 4020S features a 1,829 x 3,658 mm (72 x 144 in.) dual table design equipped with a hydraulic pallet changer and a more compact footprint than comparable end-loading systems, says the company.

With a standard 4 kW generator the CY2D 4020S can cut 25.4 mm (1 in.) mild steel, 15.88 mm (5/8 in.) stainless or aluminum and 7.9 mm (5/16 in.) brass. A 6 kW generator is also available as an option.

Depending on workpiece material and thickness, the machine is capable of cutting speeds up to 50,00 mm/min (1,968 ipm) with an accuracy of 0.030 mm (0.0012 in.) and a perpendicularity tolerance of 0.010 mm (0.0004 in.) X, Y and Z axis travels are 4,089, 2032 and 50.8 mm (161, 80 and 2 in.) respectively achieved inside a machine footprint that is only 7.010 x 6,604 mm (276 x 260 in.). The hydraulic pallet changer can handle loads up to 1,597 kg (3,520 lb) with a 40 second cycle time.

“The CY2D 4020S was designed to be easily integrated with material handling systems while minimizing floor space requirements,” says Federico Campana, president of Cy Laser America. “The side-loaded configuration means the table exit can be located on either the front or back of the machine as required to optimize material flow. Operators can access the table through sliding doors which eliminates the need to shuttle the table in and out for part inspection or other tasks.”

He adds that “the electromechanical components of the CY2D 4020S are available domestically, which adds to long-term reliability and maximum uptime. The machines are assembled here in Sterling Heights, Michigan using our proprietary cutting head that has been optimized for plate or light-gage materials with a simple nozzle change that minimizes changeover downtime.”
