Quebec job shop gets government support to expand

A Quebec job shop has received financial support from Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) to help boost the company’s productivity and undertake commercialization activities in the US market.

Usinage Pro-24, based in Asbestos, QC, has been awareded a $157,500 repayable contribution through the government’s Canadian Initiative for the Economic Diversification of Communities Reliant on Chrysotile.

Usinage Pro-24 will use the money to acquire new equipment and reconfigure its manufacturing plant.

The Canadian Initiative for the Economic Diversification of Communities Reliant on Chrysotile aims to support projects linked with the economic diversification of the Des Appalaches and Des Sources RCMs that have the potential to create jobs in the short and long terms.

“Our government is helping Quebec businesses grow so they can create more jobs. By lending assistance to Usinage Pro-24 Inc., we are supporting the productivity of Canadian businesses and the competitiveness of our country’s economy,” stated Christian Paradis, Member of Parliament for Mégantic—L’Érable and Minister of International Development and of La Francophonie.

Adds Hugo Michel, president of Usinage Pro-24, “our company, Usinage Pro-24 Inc., has been rooted in the municipality of Asbestos for nearly 15 years. This financial assistance announced today will ensure our growth and, by extension, help maintain and create jobs in the region.”
