OMAX’s MicroMax JetMachining Center is a finalist in the R&D Magazine 100 Awards. The company’s abrasive waterjet machine is nominated in the field of mechanical/materials.

The MicroMax has expanded abrasive waterjet cutting technology into the meso-micro machining world and is capable of producing extremely tiny high precision parts in virtually any material. With its announcement, R&D Magazine recognizes that the innovative qualities of the MicroMAX stand out in a field of many other equally advanced technologies.

“This was a very strong year for research and development across various markets, led by many outstanding technologies that broadened the scope of innovation,” says R&D magazine editor Anna Spiewak. “We are honoured to recognize these products and the project teams behind the design, development, testing and production of these remarkable innovations and their impact in the field. We look forward to celebrating all of these achievements in Washington, D.C., in November.”

The R&D 100 Awards, often referred to as the “Oscars of Invention,” continue to identify newly introduced revolutionary technologies. Since 1963, these awards have recognized and celebrated the top technology products of the year.

Past winners have included innovative new materials, high-energy physics, sophisticated testing equipment, manufacturing equipment, biomedical products, consumer items and chemistry breakthroughs that cover industry, education and government-sponsored research. This year’s R&D 100 Awards Winners will be presented with their honors on November 3, 2016 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Oxon Hill, Maryland (Washington, D.C.).
