Two new auto darkening models have joined the Miller Electric Mfg. Co. family of Classic series of welding helmets: the Classi VSi and the Classic FS 310 2×4 flip-up.
Both provide cost-effective alternatives to users who have used passive lenses in the past and are looking for the performance and flexibility of an auto-darkening helmet, says Miller. These new helmets also offer new flip-up design features that allow operators to grind and carry out other tasks without raising the welding helmet or switching over to a dedicated grinding mask, saving time and ensuring consistent protection of the face.
The Classic VSi is a variable shade (shades 8-13) auto-darkening helmet with a flip-up panel on the front that exposes a clear integrated grinding shield with 180 degrees of vision. The helmet also features X-Mode, a technology that electromagnetically senses the welding arc. This eliminates problems in outdoor and obstructed-view applications where interference with the welding sensors can prevent the helmet from properly darkening. The Classic VSi features a 5.88 square-inch viewing area and three independent sensors for optimal response time.
The Classic FS #10 2×4 Flip-Up helmet features two independent sensors and an industry-standard 2×4 auto-darkening lens that darkens to shade 10. The 2×4 lens flips up to expose a clear grinding shield that gives the user a clear view to the work area.
Both helmets are ANSI Z87.1+(2010) and CSA certified, and come with a two-year warranty from Miller.
