Soraluce specializes in the development of advanced solutions for manufacturing structural parts for wind turbines.
The company offers a wide range of floor type milling machines for hubs and frames, which can be configured to the customers’ production needs. It also specializes in developing gantry milling machines for large frames for wind turbines with gearbox.
It also has multitasking solutions, which combine the milling and turning in a single machine for machining rotors, rotor housings and intermediate parts for direct drive wind turbines.
In order to achieve the stock removal capacity needed during the roughing process and to improve productivity, the Soraluce solutions have kept pace with the changes in the sector, increasing powers and torques (up to 100 kW) and incorporating smart technologies to maximize the equipment’s cutting capacity and guarantee optimal production levels.
One of the key advances developed by Soraluce is the smart damping active system DAS, which controls and eliminates chatter in the machining process. This system is essential to achieve a high stock removal capacity, contributing 100 per cent cutting capacity throughout the machine’s workload, reducing machining times by up to 40 per cent and increasing productivity by up to 300 per cent. These advantages are particularly apparent when using large tools.
Adaptive Control or control of the power in the process is another system used by Soraluce to manufacture wind turbine parts. It allows the smart and automatic adjustment of defined cutting parameters according to the real energy consumption of the machine. The software generates time savings of up to 30 per cent in the roughing process, allows unattended machining, increases the service life of the machine and tool, and reduces total energy consumption.
Spindle Speed Variation SSV means more stable cutting conditions when using tools with large cantilevers. The software introduces continuous harmonic oscillation in the spindle during the machining process, eliminating chatter.
Tilting tables are particularly important when machining turbine hubs. This means that the 3 sides to the hub can be machined in a single set-up, which cuts handling and centering times, and ensures greater accuracy.
Linear guiding systems in large machines and applications for heavy tasks are a key solution for drilling and threading operations of wind turbine structural parts. This achieves high dynamics (speed) with runs of up to 25,000 mm/min and great accuracy (thermal stability)..
On the other hand, pendulum machining, with multiple work stations for uninterrupted machining, or the incorporation of centralized tool magazines, allow the machining processes to be more efficient.
Soraluce also offers great flexibility thanks to its wide range of special and standard heads, along with adaptors, which means the critical areas of the workpiece can be reached.
