Upgraded power straightener series

The upgraded Series 250 power straightener from COE Press Equipment features design enhancements to enable processing of a wider range of materials including Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS).

The new straighteners offer a 30+ per cent improvement in strength and rigidity due to increased roll journal diameter and radius, as well as increased bearing load capacity.
COE has expanded the size availability of the new 250 straighteners, which can now handle coil widths from 1.0-in. to 54-in., thickness from .010-in. to .187-in., and coil weights up to 20,000 lbs. The broad range of material capability includes CR Steel, HR Steel, Galvanized, Stainless, Pre-painted, Aluminum and AHSS. These straighteners are intended for pairing with COE’s SERVOMaster Series 1 and Series 2 roll feeds.
The straighteners provide AC variable speed drive with digital control and worm gear adjustment of the upper straightener rolls. Additional modifications to the design include enhanced outboard support, new idler shafts, improved backup design and other updates.
COE Press Equipment has announced the installation of its “Fineblanking Edition” HD straightener, coil reel with HD hold-down arm, and “alligator” style peeler threader at Hoerbiger Fineblanking of Waterloo, ON, a manufacturer of components and systems for gear shifting and declutching drive trains for passenger cars, trucks, and offroad vehicles.

COE’s Fineblanking Edition straighteners provide the necessary roll force delivery and rigidity required to achieve the flatness and tolerance required for producing near net shape blanked parts.
In addition to the COE 5-in. x 36-in. Fineblanking Edition power straightener, the equipment includes a COE 36-in. x 30-in. threading table offering hands-free threading capability, and a 20,000-lb. x 36-in. coil reel with coil clock spring guard including a motorized endwheel for effective coil containment. It also features centralized controls for the straightener and feeder.
The equipment is capable of processing high strength steels up to 110,000 PSI yield at thicknesses from 0.078-in. to .630-in depending upon the width of the material. It can achieve a payoff rate up to 80 FPM.
COE says this is the largest fineblanking equipment to date that the company has shipped and its third installation for Canadian fineblanking companies. COE also provided installation, startup and training assistance.
