The Ontario Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines has announced an investment of $741,500 in a Sault Ste. Marie shop.

The financial support will help China Steel Inc. purchase new machines, diversify its operations and upgrade product quality. The ministry also says that eight new full time jobs will be created.

Established in 1963, China Steel Inc. services local, regional and global customers including steel mills, defense contractors, paper mills, mines and other manufacturers.

“We’re thankful for the province’s support of China Steel. We have a long history in Sault Ste. Marie and look forward to continuing to grow our business while supporting the Sault’s manufacturing sector,” said Carlo China, co-owner of China Steel.
