Grinding and combination/pipeline wheels

Saint-Gobain Abrasives has introduced newly upgraded Norton Gemini grinding and combination/pipeline aluminum oxide wheels.

The new Gemini wheels feature a new premium alumina grain which yields a 15 percent faster cut rate. They also feature advanced bond technology and wheel hardness which optimize them for making fast cuts and extend lifecycle and metal removal per wheel by up to 60 percent compared to the previous generation products.

“Our Gemini cutting wheels have been the market leader in their class for years, offering premium performance at an economic price point,” said Bradley Povelaites, manager, product and commercial management, Norton | Saint-Gobain Abrasives. “We are very pleased to offer our customers even higher productivity as the new wheels cut faster and last longer, requiring fewer wheel changes.”

The upgraded wheels have improved ergonomics, offering a controlled yet aggressive feel without causing the fatigue of other competitive high performance wheels. They have also been updated with large, industry standard icons that cross language barriers, and are an on-the-wheel reminder of proper machine selection, safe usage, and required personal protective equipment.

Norton says the new Gemini wheels are a good choice for grinding 400 series stainless, and hard-grade carbon steel applications including weld repairs, flashing, multi-pass welding for pipefitting, and notching. Key market segments are metal fabrication and welding, as well as oil and gas/ pipeline. Ideal applications include offhand stock removal, smoothing welds, beveling and notching.
