FedDev Ontario pumps $7.8M into 3 York region manufacturers

FedDev Ontario, the federal department tasked with boosting manufacturing fims in the province, has invested $7.8 million to help three manufacturers increase productivity, capacity and create 116 skilled jobs.

Woodbridge, Ont.-based Vision Profile Extrusions manufactures synthetic polymer and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) for windows and doors, primarily for construction. The company will use its $2.3-million repayable contribution to add robotics and automation, creating 36 skilled jobs and retaining 30 jobs.

Axiom Group, a plastic injection molding and mold-making company in Aurora, Ont., is receiving $4.5-million to automate and digitize its processes to improve its Industry 4.0-enabled facilities, creating 60 skilled jobs.

DuROCK manufactures Exterior Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS), specialty coatings for floors and walls and specialty interior and design finishes. The Woodbridge-area company will receive $1-million to help establish a new manufacturing facility to take advantage of new infrastructure and retrofitting projects, particularly those requiring energy-efficient and non-combustible solutions, creating 20 skilled jobs.

Since November 2015, FedDev Ontario has invested almost $285 million in 75 manufacturing projects across southern Ontario.
