Kitagawa-Northtech has introduced a new series of grinding steady rests for automotive and other complex grinding applications.
The new series of grinding steady rests feature two models supported with turnkey design, build and installation capabilities dedicated to grinding applications. The new fully retracting KRGU Grind Steady Rests and GHS Grind Steady Rests are suitable for camshafts/crankshafts and other cylindrical applications where accuracy and repeatability are essential.
Steady rests are a critical requirement for the grinding of camshafts, crankshafts and other relative geometries. When the piece length increases relative to the diameter it becomes unstable and will deflect under the grind load. The use of Kitagawa NorthTech Grind Steady Rests will eliminate the problems of part deflection, grind surface finish and centering accuracy, claims the company.
The New KRGU Fully Retracting Grind Steadies
This series is specially designed for crank shaft grinding to accommodate the maximum eccentric throw and journal diameter of crank shafts. Custom made designs are available to accommodate automated loading. Available in standard gripping diameters from 70 mm (2.75 in.) to 190 mm (7.5 in.).

- High accuracy, with three-point finely adjustable centering capability

The New GHS Retracting Grind Steadies
This retracting series is for all standard and automated grinding applications such as cylindrical grinding, camshaft grinding, camlobe grinding, etc. Available in standard gripping diameters from 10 mm (.394 in.) to 120 mm (4.724 in.).
