Montreal-based Lion Electric Company, a manufacturer of all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles, and Transit Truck Bodies, are launching an electric heavy-duty truck for last-mile delivery.
Designed by Transit, the zero-emission vehicle built on a Lion6 chassis includes an e-Classik box, which is much lighter than the standard model and has been specifically designed for urban roads. The vehicle was developed as part of the Mobel mobilization project the Quebec government is helping finance.
The e-Classik box mounted on the Lion6 chassis, which is 40 per cent lighter, is already being made available in Canada and the U.S.
“Quebec has the potential to be a leader in transportation electrification…Every new innovation that chooses electrification over fossil fuels is one more step towards reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and achieving Quebec’s greenhouse gas emissions,” said Benoit Charette, Quebec’s minister of the environment.
