KYOCERA is introducing the PR20 Series insert coating technology for indexable grooving tools, designed specifically for machining steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.

Featuring Kyocera’s proprietary MEGACOAT NANO EX coating technology, this next-generation PVD coating delivers exceptional performance across various grooving applications, the company claims. MEGACOAT NANO EX is engineered with high-content aluminum nano layers, providing stable high-temperature hardness and wear and oxidation resistance. These attributes translate to significantly enhanced tool life and reliability, even under the most demanding machining conditions, the company says in a release.

Currently available for Kyocera’s popular GBA external and SIGE internal grooving systems, the new PR20  Series ensures precision and longevity in every cut. The innovative multi-layered structure of MEGACOAT NANO EX not only increases the durability of the inserts but also maintains superior cutting performance throughout extended use. By optimizing the balance between hardness and toughness, these new grades set a new standard across a variety of grooving operations, helping machinists achieve consistent, high[1]quality results while reducing tool changeovers and downtime.

Features & Benefits:

• PR2015 – 1st recommendation for steel and cast iron with excellent balance of hardness, toughness and versatility

• PR2025 – Stability oriented for steel and 1st recommendation for stainless steel with excellent fracture resistance and high stability for interrupted machining

• Excellent surface finish

• Superior wear and fracture resistance

• High temperature hardness and plastic deformation resistance

• Special nano coating layer with high aluminum content

• Suppresses hexagonal crystal precipitation and achieves excellent oxidation resistance
