Renishaw Canada celebrated the opening of its new facility in Mississauga, ON, with a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 12.

The new facility was completely renovated and includes a large product demonstration centre to showcase the company’s metrology products—CMM probe systems, touch probes and laser tool setters for CNC machine tools, linear and rotary encoders for position feedback, calibration systems for machine performance analysis, Raman spectroscopy systems, and additive manufacturing equipment.

Ben Taylor, Renishaw plc’s assistant chief executive, left, with Dafydd Willams, director and general manager for Renishaw Canada.

The facility was officially opened by Renishaw plc’s assistant chief executive, Ben Taylor. “Renishaw Canada has seen growth of almost 400 per cent in the almost ten years it has been in the Canadian market.”

Dafydd Williams, director and general manager for Renishaw Canada, says the investment in the new facility supports the company’s ongoing commitment to the Canadian market.

“With a strong local manufacturing base for automotive and aerospace, there are many opportunities for Renishaw to assist companies that are striving to raise quality and productivity levels.”

Many customers were on hand to see Renishaw’s facility and new offerings. Among them, were Michael Hancox, manufacturing engineering specialist at Stackpole International, Ancaster, ON, and Joe Kus, programming and tool design supervisor, advanced product development at Heroux Devtek, Landing Gear Division, Kitchener, ON, who were interested in the probing technology. For Daryl Grice and Vitaly Mondrus, both managing partners at Team Machine Tools Inc., Concord, ON, the grand opening was an opportunity to see some of Renishaw’s new products and technologies, such as the Equator line of flexibe gauging systems. Team Machine Tools offers calibration services for manufacturers.

.“We have close to $200,000 worth of Renishaw metrology equipment in our facilities in Canada and the US, but we’re always looking at new products that can help us improve the service we offer machine tool builders and manufacturers,” says Grice.

Among the technologies on display was Renishaw’s Productivity+ Active Editor Pro measurement software with spindle probing and tool setting running on a Brother CNC machine tool from Elliott Matsuura Canada.
