Gianni (John) Benedetti, Sandvik Coromant’s Application Specialist – OTS, will be retiring at the end of this week after 25 years with the company. Nick Tomac will take over Benedetti’s role immediately upon his retirement.

Hired by Sandvik Coromant in 1996, Benedetti held several different positions over the last 25 years.

“Over this time, he established himself as a trusted business advisor with both customers and colleagues alike,” Sandvik Coromant stated in a press release.

Most recently, Benedetti was serving as a liaison for machine tool dealers in Ontario where he helped boost the market presence for Sandvik Coromant.

“During Benedetti’s time spent with Sandvik Coromant, he played a critical role in supporting end users set up their machines and getting things “right from the start”, defining local Turn-Key sales strategies, and served as a mentor for colleagues and customers alike in their learnings. In the process, he also contributed to the development of MTS and establishing trusted business partnerships with local dealers, universities, and colleges,” the company states.

Benedetti first started with Sandvik Coromant as a Service & Applications Technician, working his way up to MTS Manager and Direct Account Manager, with his most recent position being Application Specialist – OTS.

“John [Benedetti] is extremely motivated and is determined to treat customers with industry leading support. He is perceptual, with a keen ability to read people, and always remains calm regardless of the pressure he’s under. John’s integrity, and friendliness have truly been an asset for Sandvik Coromant,” said Jonathan LeBlanc, Regional Business Manager for Sandvik Coromant Canada.

Stepping into John’s role will be Nick Tomac.

“Nick is confident and not afraid to ask questions. He’s a high energy individual who always seeks out new learning experiences. Many of Nick’s colleagues and customers praise him for being prompt, courteous, and highly trustworthy in sensitive working environments. We’re looking forward to seeing him take on this new challenge in 2022,” said LeBlanc.

Nick joined Sandvik Coromant in 2016, as a Technical Sales Representative, working his way up to Account Manager for Aerospace, and is now being promoted to Application Specialist OTS.
