The pace of growth in the Canadian manufacturing sector slowed to a nine-month low in October according to the latest data from the Markit Canada Manufacturing Purchasing Managers index (PMI). The report attributes the slow down to businesses' supply chain disruption caused by a hurricane in the U.S.  which saw export orders contract.

CanWeld 2017 in Montreal, QC

More than 1,800 people attended CanWeld 2017 in Montreal, QC. Held at Place Bonaventure September 12 and 13, the event included the welding industry's well-known CanWeld conference with 346 attendees and a trade show featuring close to 50 exhibiting companies.

Mike Cope, a machinist and a product technical specialist at Hurco, has published a book about five axis machining technology. The Power of FIVE: The Definitive Guide to 5-Axis Machining book was officially released this month at an industry conference, Top Shops, in Indianapolis, IN.

Robbie Duncan and Deborah Mates of the CWA Foundation

Robbie Duncan is the recipient of the Canadian Welding Association (CWA) Foundation's Exceptional Educator Award in the post secondary category. Duncan was on hand to receive his award during the CanWeld conference and expo in Montreal, in September.
